Why We Love It

A simpler and less costly version of the other drones that is well suited to kids.

Features Include

A 720P HD camera.

A simple one key start/landing button and the ability to plot a flight course on your smartphone.

It also advertises the ability to make the drone perform flips in the air.  As well as also having voice controls and the ability to take photos of you if you pose in front of it.

It does not however have the GPS auto return of the more expensive drones as well as smaller batteries so you may need to be cautious that your kids don’t fly out of range and lose it.

Drone FAQs

It can be difficult to know which drone is the right one for you.  There is no shortage of options to pick from depending on your budget and experience.

We have created a list of frequently asked questions to help you chose.

How far can a drone fly?

That depends entirely on the drone.  Some of the high end professional drones can have a range of up to 5 miles or more while the toy drones may only have a range of 20 to 100 yards.  We would suggest you check your drones specifications, especially if you have a drone that does not have the auto return GPS system.

How hard is it to fly a drone?

It can be quite difficult (depending on the drone).  Most newer drones now a days though have built in stability functions to make flying them much easier.

Is there an app to practice drone flying?

Yes, there are actually quite a few on both the Google and Apple store.

Can you fly a drone higher than 400 ft?

Technically yes.  Most drones as long as they have a range of 400 ft or more can fly that high.  But should you?  That will depend on where you live and the local laws of your area.  Manned aircraft can fly as low as 500 feet so if you take your drone past the 400 ft mark you can risk colliding with an aircraft.  When in doubt check with the local laws in your area so that you don’t end up on the wrong end of a fine.

Do I need to register my drone with the FAA?

Maybe.  Again, check your local laws but in general any drone that weighs more than 0.55 pounds (250 grams) must be registered with the FAA and have a serial number attached.  Drones can be registered online through the FAA website.

(All three of the drones recommended in this article are below the 250 gram threshold.)
