The two biggest topics of the last week revolve around a recent surprise game play demonstration of CD Projekt Red's Cyberpunk 2077 and the continuous and unrelenting onslaught of Star Wars news.
I'll start with the beauty that is Cyberpunk. Check out these screen grabs from the demo:
Above: Night city during daytime
Above: Driving Sequence through the Neo-Tokyoesque setting of Night City
Above: Character Creation
Above: Battle sequence
Above: Player Character, Vee
The playthrough was 48 minutes long and unapologetically NSFW. It was violent, it was bloody, it was adult, and it was pure genius.
I don't think I'll eat those words, because if this game turns out half as good as the demo looked, we will have one hell of a game on our hands. Follow the link below to check out the demo for yourself:

We dive pretty deep into discussion about the open-world rpg concept and how it's entirely derived from a genre of live role-playing that started with Dungeons and Dragons almost 45 years ago.
(On a side note: At some point in the episode I claim that "Denis Dyack" is the creator of D&D... Obviously I caught this in post but didn't have time to edit in the correct name of Gary Gygax. Similar sounding names, both responsible for awesome things (the former a recent President of Game Studio: Silicon Knights). My bad!)
And then there's Star Wars news. Holy bantha poodoo is there ever an onslaught of news, these days. Since Episode 9 started filming it's clear that there's a concerted effort to keep this franchise top-of-mind.
Last week or the week before we mentioned the new animated series that's in the works... And it was just the tip of the proverbial news iceberg - Literally every day over the last two weeks has yielded some tidbit of SW9 news including new cast members (like Doctor Who's Matt Smith) and potential plot details.
Among the "other" category SW news are the rumours which are coming in fast - including the idea that they may split 9 into two parts, a la Harry Potter/The Hobbit/Hunger Games. This isn't inherently a bad thing, and I think strategically it's the right move to give JJ a chance to clean up and build some more suspense and momentum to end the Skywalker saga on an absolute high-note.
Anyway, believe it or not I'm looking forward to even more SW news as Ep9 films... Just saw today that Mark Hamill is teasing his departure to go and film his portion!
